HOW YOU CAN HELP
Sidney prides itself on being an outstanding environment for music-making by students studying a range of academic subjects and the Choir, in particular, is a major focus of College life. The high standard of choral music at Sidney is only possible thanks to the generosity of the College’s alumni and friends. Sidney now has six endowed choral scholars.
This support enables us to purchase music, offer singing lessons and subsidise tours. Last year, the Choir had three very successful tours to Germany, Rome (where they had the fantastic opportunity of performing in the Colosseum) and Dubai and Jordan where they performed a Choral Play composed by Joanna Marsh (a Sidney alumna and Composer in Residence) in the Dubai Opera House. This year the Choir will be recording a new CD, as well as touring the USA in the summer.
The College is seeking support for 18 more choral scholars. For each sponsored choral scholar, a bronze plaque, recognising the donor’s generosity, is affixed to the choir stalls.
We are incredibly grateful for generous support of many friends and alumni who have enabled us to purchase embossed choir folders, psalm books and psalters as well as our many fantastic instruments in the chapel.
